I am an American ceramic artist. I studied Studio Art at Wichita State University and have taught ceramics for the local community Visual Arts Program for the past ten years. My passion is working in clay with a focus on creating unique art forms rather than domestic pieces. Having explored many different ceramics techniques over the years, I chose to specialize in the practice of pit firing. I love the relationship between control and unpredictability that pit firing offers. My collaboration with nature (fire, earth, organic matter) brings the pots alive with dramatic patterns and color. I also enjoy painting, mixed media collage and printmaking. Pursuing a variety of creative outlets keeps me inspired and full of fresh new ideas.
